I am the Media Specialist at H.E. McCracken Middle School. I am so proud to work at this amazing school with interested students, a great faculty, and wonderful leadership. I attended Appalachian State University for both my BS in Elementary Education and then later to obtain my Master’s Degree in Library Science. I am a highly qualified educator with my South Carolina license in both Elementary Education and Media Specialist areas.

I have spent almost 20 years combined teaching in both the classroom and as a media specialist. I thoroughly enjoy my job here as the media specialist. Getting to know the students and introducing them to great literature and awesome newly released books are my favorite parts of the job. I am so fortunate to have a career that combines rich literature, interaction with all the students, collaboration with teachers, connection to the students through their reading, and technology integration.

Personally, I have been married to my wonderful husband Tommy, and we are blessed to have our son, Wyatt. We truly love living here in Bluffton and exploring all the natural beauty that surrounds us!

In BCSD we encourage all of our students to read over the summer. We do not provide a specific book requirement per grade level over the summer break. to build life-long readers, we suggest you allow your child to visit the public library and pick out books that interest them. Our county public library runs contests throughout the summer months to interest students and families. Please get your child involved in these programs. You can also find out information on Beaufort County Library's Facebook page and website about upcoming events. 

Our school district offers an online book collection for all students and staff called Sora. You may download the app to your device and students log on using their ClassLink credentials with their username@beaufort.k12.sc.us followed by their password to log in. given their particular age, they will see appropriate aged book selections to read. Students may check out up to 2 books for 2 weeks at a time. They can also read our new magazines that are now offered through the Sora App.

We have a selection of Summer Reads and also the 2022-2023 SCASL(South Carolina Association of School Librarians) yearly nominees in all 4 categories- Picture Book, Children's Book, Junior Book, and Young Adult.
